About the NSSCKPA Committee
The NSSCKPA wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for our valued committee members. Find out more about our team in our biographies below.
Chair
David Kerby
Hi, I'm 69 and I am married to Susan and have two grown up sons. My youngest son is married and lives in Canada with our granddaughter. I have been a renal patient for 27 years and was transplanted in 2010. After my transplant I felt that I needed to give something back to those who were suffering with CKD and as a thank you to my donor. At that time I joined the NSSCKPA committee as a lay member and I am now the Chair of that committee.
Vice Chairman
Neil Garbett
Neil became involved in the charity in 2021 after a serious illness two years earlier had led to him joining the ‘haemodialysis club’ with treatment at UHNM where he serves as our representative.
Neil is a former deputy headteacher who had a second career involved in engagement and the scrutiny of health and care, adult safeguarding and research.
Additionally Neil serves as Co-patient Lead for the Midlands Kidney Network which covers 12 specialist systems across the area.
Committee Member
Lisa Foley
Hi I am 50 years old and I am married and have 3 grown-up children. I have been a renal patient for nearly 39 years. I have Polycystic Kidney Disease and 2 years ago I had to have a nephrectomy to remove my extremely large kidney. That was when my dialysis journey started. I did 1 year on peritoneal dialysis and then after some surgery had to change to hemodialysis. I currently attend Leighton hospital in Crewe. I am active on the transplant list and also on the pairing scheme with my friend. I have recently joined the committee as I love the idea of being a voice and an advocate for the patients at my unit.
Trustee
Judy Newcombe
I am Judy Newcombe, 75 years old. I care for my husband Derek who has been a dialysis patient for 8 years at the County Hospital, Stafford, after being diagnosed with kidney cancer. During my working life I have always worked in industry, undertaking a variety of jobs including Training Instructor, Human Resources, Job Evaluation, Management Profiling, at director level and Senior Trade Union Representative. After retirement I volunteered in a Secondary School, helping out with special needs pupils and assisting in the classroom. I joined the NSSCKPA 3 years ago to help give support to kidney patients.
Trustee
Eunice Finney
My name is Eunice Finney FRAgS, and I have unfortunately had problems with my kidneys most of my life, I went on to dialysis in 2021, and I started haemodialysis at Wolverhampton, then Cannock and moved to Stafford and at the moment I am at Stoke, hoping to participate in home therapy.
I am a parish councillor and a recently retired school governor.
A reside and worker at Amerton Farm, which is open to the general public and we are situated between Stafford and Uttoxeter.
I have been a member of the North Staffs and South Cheshire Kidney Patients Association (NSSCKPA), since 2022 and I am a trustee of the organisation. I am truly hoping NSSCKPA in the future can help to start several patient peer groups in the areas of haemodialysis, home dialysis, and also support patients preparing for a transplant and those patients who have received a transplant.
