Stafford Haemodialysis Unit

County Hospital Renal Unit is a small Haemodialysis Outpatient area based in Stafford, a satelite of The Royal Stoke University Hospital. The Nurse in Charge is Jenny Fermin. The Renal Consultant is Dr Christopher Thompson. It is a nurse led unit, with minimal Doctor in-put. You will find that the Unit is much quieter than the main Unit at Royal Stoke.

How many dialysis stations does this unit have?

County Hospital Renal Unit can accommodate 12 outpatients for Haemodialysis at any one time. There are 10 dialysis stations on the main unit with 2 side rooms.

What are the unit opening hours?

The unit operates 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday. We operate two shifts, opening at 6.00am and closing at 4:30pm.

Can I eat and drink?

On dialysis our patients receive refreshments; Toast in the morning and there is a selection of sandwiches at lunch and tea time, along with a hot or cold drink and biscuits.

How will I get there? Can I drive myself?

Parking is available outside the unit for patients who wish to drive themselves, you will be issued with a parking permit if this is the case. Parking is FREE.

If you are unable to drive yourself then Hospital transport will be provided, at no cost to the patient.

Will I be able to see a Doctor?

This is a Nurse led unit and we are able to contact Doctors via the telephone.

You will also have regular clinic appointments here in the unit’s clinic rooms. Here you can discuss any issues and have a full clinic review.
